Our History

Where It Started

2014
CMG Motorcycles was established in 2014 to serve Christchurch as a specialised motorcycle sales and service provider.
As part of the locally owned Cockram Motor Group, our passion and family history dates back to the 1940s.
Authorised Indian Dealer

2015
CMG Motorcycles became the authorised Indian motorcycle dealership for Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region. This allowed us to deliver a higher level of support to local riders through dedicated sales, specialist servicing, and genuine Indian Motorcycle parts.
Motorcycle Brand Expansion

2017
Building on this foundation, CMG Motorcycles expanded to represent additional motorcycle brands, including Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, and Vespa.
Authorised Triumph Dealer

2018
CMG Motorcycles becomes the home of Triumph in Canterbury. We were extremely proud to add Triumph Motorcycles to our stable of brands, and have since grown into one of New Zealand's top dealerships.
The Modernisation

2020
Our Christchurch showroom underwent a full modernisation, with the existing space stripped back and rebuilt to better support our growing motorcycle business. During this period, operations were temporarily relocated two doors down while the work was completed.
Trusted Motorcycle Brands

2022 - 2024
CMG Motorcycles added four more motorcycle brands: Suzuki, BMW Motorrad, MV Agusta, and CFMOTO, becoming Christchurch's largest road motorcycle dealer.
This expansion provides the Canterbury riding community with greater choice, supported by experienced technicians, genuine parts, and customer service built on years of industry experience.
Motorcycle Track Days

2024
CMG Motorcycles' first track day marked a natural extension of our commitment to riding, delivered through our HAGD (Have A Go Day) events. These days were created to give riders a safe, supportive environment to experience motorcycles on track, build confidence, and better understand what their bike is capable of.
Present

Today, CMG Motorcycles represents 9 motorcycle brands, supported by experienced staff and purpose-built facilities. With over 100 motorcycles in our Christchurch showroom, we offer a complete ownership experience, from sales and servicing, to parts and ongoing support.
